Catherine NobleEditor, City News, Queensland Community Newspapers
Catherine Noble is the editor of City News, one of 20 weekly newspapers in the Quest Community Media group. She began her career as a copy girl on the Brisbane Telegraph and was a cadet on The Courier-Mail. She has also worked on the Sunday Sun and The Cairns Post and completed a two-year stint as the publications officer for the Real Estate Institute of Queensland. Catherine was the deputy editor of the Times Newspaper Group in Auckland, New Zealand for two years.
A born and bred Brisbane girl, she has a passion for newspapers and suspects there's ink in her veins as she’s a third generation News Limited employee.
Conal HannaManaging Editor, Brisbanetimes.com.au
Conal Hanna worked in newspapers and magazines before joining the brisbanetimes.com.au team prior to the site’s launch in March 2007. He has been Managing Editor since August 2009.
Having worked for various newspapers and magazines, both in Queensland and overseas, he found the freedom and immediacy of online held instant attraction.
The internet is perhaps the ultimate story-telling medium, and Conal's goal as editor is to disprove the spurious notion that there's no "quality" journalism produced online.
When he's not at work he enjoys getting to the beach, exploring Brisbane's growing foodie scene and the occasional overseas adventure.
Cayla DengateFeatures Editor, mX
Cayla Dengate is a young journalist with an interest in the weird and wonderful world of new media.
She’s interviewed everyone from Prime Minister Kevin Rudd to fashion designer Collette Dinnigan and has been featured in more than 15 publications. She began her career at The Canberra Times where she progressed from advertorial writer to news reporter to fashion editor. After a year covering the fashion circuit, she traded stilettos for gumboots and headed to The Philippines to teach journalism for the Australian Government’s AYAD volunteer program.
Upon returning to Australia eight months ago, she settled in Brisbane as mX features editor. She’s currently learning online software to equip herself for the future of journalism and PR and is particularly interested in hearing the PR world’s attitude to phone applications, Augmented Reality, Alternate Reality Games and other online promotions.
